I
will be Disappointed for it to End.
I will
continue with the coarse until it is over, I will also be disappointed for
it to end. I've learned so much during these studies, not just the English
coarse, but I've learned so much about the bible. This coarse has truly been
a blessing in my life, and I thank you for all your help. I'm looking
forward to the finish line but at the same time don't want it to end. I may
take the coarse all over again. I got so caught up in the bible studies
aspect of it. I lost touch with the English aspect. (smile).

One More Reason for Internet Teaching
One
additional benefits of using the World English Institute course in reaching
out with the gospel message is that you can teach when you are ill. The past
few days I've been fighting with a cold that has lodged in my upper and
lower respiratory systems (wherever those are) Armed with a box of tissues
and Galina's care, it is possible to communicate with people far away but as
close as the PC. One great joy this week was to congratulate our friend
Tanya from Nikolaev, who completed all lessons in the Intermediate and
Advanced WEI course in our individual classes, and also finished the lessons
on-line this week.
It is also a joy to study with our new young friend Irina who is a student
we met at the University. Ira became our close friend perhaps since her
family lives about 7 hours from Nikolaev and she doesn't have many friends
in Nikolaev. She is a very bright student and open to the truth that she
discovers from God's word. The beautiful scarf Galina is wearing was a going
way gift from Irina.

Churches of Christ at Work in Sudan
An inspiring an newsletter
distributed by Don Humphrey and Daniel Nordstrom of the Mt. Juliet,
Tennessee church, who have a sense of urgency.
You will need Adobe Reader to read it; it's a free download.
Most of
you are familiar with World Bible School (WBS) correspondence courses. I
want to introduce to you a new method we're using to teach people in South
Sudan using the internet. It is called the World English Institute (WEI).
About two years ago, we received an email from Cyndi Murphy in Kentucky. She
had studied the Bible with James Sokiri in Juba, South Sudan over the
internet. He was ready to be baptized and needed someone to follow up on
this. We had Christians in Juba study with him, and he was baptized. James
is now one of the leaders of the congregation in that city. He wants to
leave his job with the UN and start preaching full-time!

MAKING A
DIFFERENCE
The following story comes from John Shay, Sr.:
A group of dinner guests were sitting around a table discussing life. A
CEO decided to explain the problem with education. He argued, "What's a kid
going to learn from someone who decided his best option in life was to
become a teacher?" He reminded the other dinner guests what they say about
teachers: "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach."
To stress his point, he said to another guest, "You're a teacher, Susan.
Be honest. What do you make?"
Susan, who had a reputation for honesty and frankness, replied, "You want
to know what I make? I make kids work harder than they ever thought they
could. I make a C+ student feel like the winner of the Congressional Medal
of Honor. I make kids sit through 40 minutes of study hall in absolute
silence.
"You want to know what I make? I make kids wonder. I make them criticize.
I make them apologize and mean it. I make them write. I make them read,
read, read. I make them show all their work in math and perfect their final
drafts in English. I make them understand that, if you have the brains and
follow your heart, and if someone ever tries to judge you by what you make,
you must pay no attention because they just didn't learn."
Susan paused and then continued. "You want to know what I make? I make a
difference. What do you make?"
It was James who wrote,
"Brothers and sisters, not many of you should
become teachers." (James 3:1, GOD'S WORD).
He points out that teachers will be
judged more severely. He could just as easily have said that teachers have a
greater responsibility, a greater challenge, a greater opportunity to affect
the lives of people in a negative way. It is impossible to teach without
using
words, and with greater use of words comes a greater danger that the words
will do harm.
But thanks be to God that there are those who face that challenge and
assume that responsibility and make a diligent effort to use their words as
an
opportunity to affect the lives of people in a positive way. Those of you
who
are teachers -- who can begin to measure the tremendous effect that you are
having in the lives of the children (and adults) in your classrooms? You may
not see the results of your efforts for years. In fact, you may never get to
see the results.
But you do make a difference.
Those of you who are
schoolteachers are teaching not only the basics of
education, but you are teaching values and character. Those of you who are
Bible class teachers are filling the minds and hearts of our children with
stories of faith that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. Those
of
you who are preachers are strengthening the family of God and bringing
salvation to the lost.
So, my hat is off to all of you who are teachers because I know exactly
what you make. "We have
different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is
prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving,
let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach." (Romans 12:6-7)
Have a great day!

Rejoice with the angels in Heaven. Here is Rafael's message. Please pray his
son will also obey!
"As scheduled, I was baptized early this evening. It was a wonderful
experience. I thank God for the opportunity He gave to me of sharing this
precious moment with my new brothers and sisters. My son George was also
there, and he was very happy. He told me he liked the people he met there."

Correspondence Teaches Students New Things About
God
This
Muslim is just repeating what all Muslims are taught all their life. They
haven't really investigated for themselves.
Here it
is:
"Lesson One makes me think, is our God like us? If he create us a copy for
him what is he? a male or a female? does he sleep? does he eat? does he
making love? where are his children or wife? if Jesus is his son and jesus
was dead why he did't try to bring another sons? does he become tired? this
is a new information that I didn't know before....But if God become tired,
why he still crate us , he will be tired also when he notice our actions and
judge us a bout it at judgment day.. isn't he?"
"Here was my reply: You have a great misunderstanding of God. We are like
God emotionally, intellectually and spiritually, not physically. God is a
Spirit. (More on this later.) Of course God does not get tired. The word
"rest" in the creation means he stopped his work of creating the world. It
was used as an example to us that one day a week, we need to stop our work
and "rest" and meditate on God and what he did for us."
"Here is how she responded to my reply: oh! thank you. this is a new concept
to me, and you give me a vision to thinking about it again. Sometimes I feel
that I didn't understand the religious affairs, and this misunderstanding
let me confusing. thank you again.

From an Internet Teacher
Kay is
engaged in meaningful conversation on-line with one of her WEI students in
Brazil who is in the Advanced Course. It is thought that she is Catholic,
and she is asking questions about infant baptism. Precious seed is being
sown, and God will give the increase.

This just came in from a Teacher in Katy, TX
WEI has
something very valuable to offer students! Students learn English and God's
plan of salvation in such a wonderful way. Learning another language may
open many doors. Learning about God's plan of salvation (and obeying it)
will save their soul.
Also, teachers learn the value of teaching God's word. When I read Robert's
answers to the thought questions, tears come to my eyes. The answers are
sincere. I pray for my students.

From a student in Sudan to Teacher Today
"i must thank you, thank the institution and thank the person who introduced
me to this site. From the experience of life i have gone through from
childhood todate, i didn't realise the closeness and repeated melodies of
GOD's words to me until when i started studying this course."
"I will not feel ashamed to invite and encourage as many people as possible
especially those who are tormented and cut short of the glory of GOD. There
are many people outside there who want to hear the words of GOD, fellowship
with GOD and surrender their lives to GOD, but they don't know how to do it.
This is a very very important course in the life of every growing young
woman or man.
May GOD bless you more and more and to keep the institution for more and
more years to come so that even our young primary and nursery going children
should benefit from this.

From an Internet Teacher
"I was very impressed by the comment made by one of my students after
completing the lesson on the death of Jesus. He wrote: "Tears came down my
face when I was reading the last three paragraphs. No one [is] like Jesus."
"Those of us who are Christians have heard the story so many times that we
may have forgotten how powerful it can be, especially for those who have
never known it. It is truly "good news" that we share with the students."

"I tried to improve my English by websites on the internet, but I didn't find
them effective. Most of them for chatting more than studying. WEI is easier
to improve English." |

From an Internet Teacher
"I want you
to know how meaningful these WEI Bible lessons have been to me. I am almost
66 years old and I have been under strong Biblical influences all my life. I
was the oldest child and grew up on a farm out in the country without other
children to play with until I went to school. My earliest memories are of my
grandmother telling me Bible stories. Actually, in many ways, the people in
the Bible were more real to me than people in my rather isolated young
world. Later, I was educated at Lipscomb in the days when they required a
Bible class every day. I said all that to say that, even with such a
background, I have learned so much from the WEI lessons. Often I come across
passages which I don't remember ever reading or studying before. Or I am
struck in a new way with how a scripture is pointing to God's plan for man's
salvation even from the very moment of The First Man's fall from grace. I
hope these realizations are making me a better teacher. I believe they are."

They APPRECIATE the Corrections
to their English
"Well, I would like to thank you for your excellent
comments about my answers and the corrections that you have made in my many
mistakes. I have been learning english for 6 months, I'm just beginner so,
you still will see more grammar mistakes, but I'm learning the english
language a lot and more than it, I'm learning important things about
Bible and God because of you and the World English Institute. So, I'm
sending you this message just for one reason: show you how glad I am for
being studying by your lessons. Thank you very much."

WEI VIA THE INTERNET
"Recently we have begun a new adventure with WEI. You
may recall the names, Bob and Jan Towell. They are in charge of the WEI
website for on-line teaching.
"We ourselves have four students, all of whom are in a distant land,
and they study their lessons on-line. The website notifies us when they
complete an assignment, and we grade and return their lessons (with any
comment or explanation), also on-line. This is a marvelous method, and the
students are assured of perfect security. As you know, some governments do
not permit their citizens to make contact with any kind of Christian
teaching. If you think you would like to have a part in this, please contact
the Towells at
JRTowell@aol.com
"All communication in the internet teaching is done in
English, and there is helpful instruction which guides us through the
process. It is easy to do, does not take a great amount of time for any one
lesson, and gives ample opportunity to “talk” with each student and
establish friendship. Try it. You’ll like it!"

"I received your email
sent to me and I have been very happy reading the news that I am about to
finish the elementary level. It is exciting news. For this success, I would
like to express my deep thanks for the institution for giving me this great
opportunity to learn Bible and english. Also my thanks for you for helping
and encouraging me to improve my english and to know the Bible. Even though
my pray is not strong enough, I will pray for all of you to be blessed and
kept by God."

From a student (woman) in Haiti
"I'd like to have a
strong faith like Abram but the interpretation of the Bible by differents
religions is an obstacle. That's why I love WEI, the courses give me a
chance to know by myself the word of God and make my own decision to follow
and obey God."
